Anatomy is the science of studing and understanding the normal construction, evolvement and development of the human body. The art of medicine and biology science requires anatomy knowledge as a founding keystone. Learning anatomy is to understand morphologic features and underlying connections between organs and systems, as well as local structures, organizations and relative positions. This course improves apprehension in body physiology and disease pathology, laying solid visual foundation for future basic and clinical medicine courses, helping students to distinguish, diagnose, judge, treat and explore.
Anatomy is the first specialized course students encounter in the transition from Pre-med to basic medicine in PUMC's Eight-Year Program. Our board-based, detailed theoretical and practical classes features in PUMC tradition of "Board systemic anatomy & Comprehensive regional anatomy " .Students are divided into group of 4 sharing one cadaver. The course is of high class dynamic and anticipitation. The Department of Anatomy has supplemented class reforms according to the trend of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), including inviting world-renowned anatomist as visiting professor, introducing clinicians and students themselves to give speeches, lauching trial lessons as Clinically-Oriented Anatomy Lectures(COAL), Anatomy Surgical Demonstrations (ASD), Clinically Oriented Seminars (COS-Anatomy).Students group into 4 advanced-studying Societies, which name after esteemed professors as Davidson Black, Jun Zhang, Zuogan Zhang and Shepu Xue. All subset lessons are networked and multimedia is applied since 2013 to promote and facilitate self-learning and all-time learning. Memorial works and words are left by students after the course is finished.
